The Macomb Foster Closet operates a large donation center and “store” in Mount Clemens helping kids removed from their homes throughout Metro Detroit.
Each year we serve over 2,000 licensed foster families, special needs children adopted from foster care, court-ordered kinship placements, and foster youth (ages 18-24) in transition.
We provide all essential items like clothing, shoes, hygiene products, sports equipment, toys, baby supplies, food basics, and school supplies. We also provide childhood experiences with Halloween costumes, items for Easter & Christmas, birthdays gifts and more.
On Cruise Day, the Clinton Township Gratiot Cruise will be having a collection drive to assist the Macomb Foster Closet provide items to children in need. We will be looking to collect the following items:
- New in the package underwear for all sizes men and women, boys and girls
- New personal hygiene products such as body wash, shampoo, hair styling products (gel and hairspray), brushes and combs, deodorant, body spray, etc.
- New pillows and twin sheet sets
- New school supplies for all ages including pencil sharpeners, pencil bags/boxes, 3x5 index cards, colored markers/pencils, and kid themed backpacks (Paw Patrol, Marvel, etc.).
- New water/pool/beach play toys
- New and like new bike helmets
You can bring your items to the collection truck at the Family Fun Zone from 12pm-4pm, or there will also be a collection site at the Cruise Headquarters for these items from 8am-4pm.
In addition, $5.00 of every car show registration in the Cruise Day Car Show will be donated to Macomb Foster Closet.
